TRIVIA:

After Michael's departure, the Foundation begins a search for a replacement. K.I.T.T. is horrified at the thought he may be paired with Charles "Chuck" Wallyburton -- an arrogant Fed.

LaSalle is the only person ever to override K.I.T.T.'s voice transmission, and speak to Michael through the familiar speaker box. This episode is also the only one of the series in which Michael talks to Devon over a "live" link on K.I.T.T.'s monitor.

John Considine also appears in the episode KNIGHT OF THE JUGGERNAUT, while fellow guest stars Ken Foree and Ken Scott appear in REDEMPTION OF A CHAMPION and RETURN TO CADIZ respectively. Michael Horsley previously appeared as a valet attendant in the first season episode FORGET ME NOT.

A similar story can be found in the TEAM KNIGHT RIDER spin-off series episode Inside Traitor, in which T.K.R. member Erica appears to have joined a gang of thieves.

SCRIPT TO SCREEN:

The scene in which Michael is suspended is extended in the script. Devon informs Michael that whatever he intends to do "will have to be without Kitt." They part company on slightly better terms than in the episode.

According to the script, the entry-code to the Foundation garage is 2-1-6-7, although the episode switches this to a palm-print readout. The original code for the Fire Mountain vault was 3-2-8-1 (it's 3-2-8-0 in the show).

Filmed, but cut from the episode, is Michael's brief encounter with Carmen, "a pretty dark-haired girl." Jean Lubin still receives credit for the role.

K.I.T.T.'s punchline in the Tag ("Given a choice, I prefer alligators") was added late in production. According to the shooting script, Michael and Bonnie laugh at Chuck's line "Little buddy, look who's here."
