Justin Bruening Talks Knight Rider

The Sioux City Journal has an interview with Justin Bruening, where he talks about his background, getting discovered, and of course, Knight Rider.

“I was the second person to read for Knight Rider,” he tells them proudly. “I’m a fan of the original series and there were things I wanted to see in the pilot, but we can’t fit everything from a four-year show into two hours. Now, if we run five years, we can.”

When asked about doing his own stunts, Justin tells them, “I’m trying to do reverse 180s and slide a car into the camera without hitting anyone — which is really nerve-racking. It’s not that I’m not comfortable behind the wheel, but if there’s a group of 30 people standing there and I have to slide the car, I don’t want to hit them.” His stunt driver “can take a car and make it go in a circle all day long. It’s amazing.” The goal is for Justin to be able to do all of those stunts without help. He currently does 98 percent of the fights after training he received between the pilot and the series. “I’ve come out bruised and banged up, but nothing that wouldn’t have happened anyway.”

Since landing Knight Rider, Bruening reveals he hasn’t had one speeding ticket: “I haven’t had any since college. And that was a speed trap.”

Dave Andron on ‘A Hard Day’s Knight’

Dave Andron, who scripted last night’s episode, shares his thoughts and experiences over at NBC’s Official Knight Rider Blog. “It’s been a blast,” he says. “To be perfectly blunt with you, this is a big show, and far as I’m concerned, the more help the better. So GST was hired to come in and steer the ship. Great writers. More great crew. And more great actors. We’re having fun, and you know why?

“Because Knight Rider is fun. Or, at least, it should be. But in addition to fun there have to be stakes, or else why do we care? So when I sat down to write my episode I decided I wanted to see Mike really get pushed to the brink, and watch our team rally around him.”

If you haven’t seen the episode yet, be careful with this one… there are spoilers!

NBC Orders More Scripts!

In what has to be a positive sign, NBC has ordered four additional scripts for Knight Rider — which takes the potential episode count for the season up to 17. The Hollywood Reporter state that this is “the second new scripted series after CBS’ crime drama The Mentalist to receive an additional script pickup, often a precursor to a full-season order.”

Here’s hoping!

Barack Obama Postpones Halloween Episode

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has purchased a half-hour of primetime television on CBS and NBC, during which his campaign will air a nationwide pitch to voters. The ad will run Wednesday, 29th October, at 8 p.m. — less than a week before the general election… and in Knight Rider‘s time-slot. Sadly, this means that the scheduled episode, Knight of the Living Dead — a Halloween special — has been pre-empted, and will be moved back by a week, making its appearance on 5th November.
