Joseph Ruskin (1924-2013)
Joseph Ruskin, who guest starred in Knight Rider‘s third season premiere Knight of the Drones, passed away December 28 from natural causes at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica. He was 89.
Mr. Ruskin was a prolific character actor, appearing in 25 films and 124 television shows in a career spanning 50 years. His notable film appearances included The Magnificent Seven and Prizzi’s Honor. His television credits include appearances on The Outer Limits, Gunsmoke, The Wild Wild West, The Man From UNCLE, Mission: Impossible, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, Starsky and Hutch, Quincy, M.E., BJ and the Bear, Airwolf, Riptide and Murder, She Wrote. His distinctive voice could be heard in video games and cartoons such as The Smurfs, Duck Tales and Spider-Man, and he was the uncredited voice of the Kanamits in the famous Twilight Zone episode ‘To Serve Man.’
He had roles in four different Star Trek series: Star Trek (1966), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise. He was the only actor to appear on screen in all four of the series in question.
Knight Rider fans will remember Mr. Ruskin as Bubba, the shifty manager of The Golden Fox Club in Knight of the Drones.

“You can’t believe how many deaf children love Knight Rider,” David Hasselhoff told the San Bernardino Sun TV Week in 1983. “It’s partly because it’s so visual, and they love to see all the action with the car. It was no surprise to me that many of them didn’t know that the car talked, but I would be thrilled if the series would be closed-captioned for them.”
David Hasselhoff went on to campaign to NBC that Knight Rider should carry closed captions, and it’s thanks to him that the show became accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing.

Las Vegas Car Stars – the event that began life as The Knight Rider Festival – returns May 16-17, 2014!

Las Vegas Car Stars is an Entertainment Event packed with celebrity guests from the world over, incredible vehicles all showcased with the glitz and glamour of Vegas. This year you can join them as they delve into new areas, such as CosPlay and LIVE Entertainment! It’s all happening at the incredible Fremont Street Experience!
Las Vegas Car Stars is a free, open event which charges no admission fee to see and greet the stars. Their mission is recognising the car owners and how they support Movie and TV series both past and present. Car owners will be raising proceeds for the Children’s Miracle Network, a nationally recognized charity which assists children and their families. All proceeds go directly to the Children’s Miracle Network to help make a difference.
