Hot Wheels: K.A.R.R. in 1:43!

Hot Wheel Elite KARR

K.A.R.R. in 1:43 – Hot Wheels Elite Cult Classic Collection

Hot Wheels have released the final images of their 1:43 scale diecast K.A.R.R.! The free-wheeling model features K.A.R.R.’s distinctive shiny black and silver chassis, beige and black interior, detailed tires, and KARR licence plate! The model also comes with an included plinth for all your display needs.

K.A.R.R. (Knight Automated Roving Robot) is a black and grey customized 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. K.A.R.R. is the major antagonist of K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand) in the popular ‘80s action-adventure television series, Knight Rider.

In the TV show, K.A.R.R. was a prototype vehicle created before K.I.T.T. by Wilton Knight himself. K.A.R.R. was immediately deactivated because it featured a serious problem in the system: it was programmed exclusively for self-preservation and not to protect human life (unlike K.I.T.T.). Stored away in the Knight Museum of Technology, K.A.R.R. was re-activated by mistake and becomes a very dangerous enemy for K.I.T.T. Check out our new 1:18th and 1:43rd scale models of this diabolical vehicle.

Hot Wheels EliteTM adds this exciting new piece to the great Cult Classic Collection!

LEGO CUUSOO Knight Rider Set

LEGO CUUSOO Knight Rider Set, by Stanley-Efu

Lego Cuusoo is a website which allows users to submit ideas for Lego products to be turned into potential sets available commercially. User Stanley-Efu has created a fantastic Knight Rider set – still at the idea stage – that consists of K.I.T.T. and two mini-figure versions of Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff) and Devon Miles (Edward Mulhare).

Stanley-Efu says:

I designed and build a 7-wide minifig scaled model of K.I.T.T. with only original LEGO bricks.
Buy using SNOT-technique (Studs Not On Top) I placed the lower midsection upside down to create the smooth curved shapes. Enjoy this model!

The LEGO CUUSOO Knight Rider project currently has 346 supporters, but it needs a lot more than that. Once the project reaches 10,000 supporters, it is reviewed by the Cuusoo team who then decide on whether to produce it. The Cuusoo team also comments on project’s pages when they have 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000 supporters. These comments include feasibility, what is happening next, and anything they can think of to help it pass the review.

Get behind this great set here, and let’s get this into stores!

KnightCon 2013 Statement

KnightCon Star Cars & Heroes 2013

KnightCon Star Cars & Heroes 2013

Sad news from the organisers of KnightCon, who have released a statement saying that this year’s event was their last.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Knightcon 2013 is to be our final Knight Rider event…

This difficult and even painful decision has been forced by recent and behind the scenes events.

The statement “Knightcon has lost its way” has been suggested… this statement is not only hurtful but is absolutely not true, and in reality could not be further from the actual truth. The fact of the matter is the downscaling of the Knight Rider section at this year’s event was for all intents and purposes forced upon us by recent events abroad and the possibility of legal ramifications regarding the Universal licence. This overriding concern has had a huge knock-on effect, meaning the event could not be advertised as a “Knight Rider event” also meaning we were unable to produce unique Knight Rider merchandise including: posters, limited edition prints, programs, items for our guests to sign, thus meaning we could not generate the revenue to finance our usual 3 guests… the only reason Rebecca was able to come this year was because Steve Wilde generously helped significantly with funding her journey here for which we are unbelievably grateful!

This overwhelming concern and fear of legal proceedings caused us great distress as we knew we could not give you the fans of Knight Rider the event we have in the past and the event we so wanted to produce for you!, so instead we devised “Knightcon Intimate” in hopes we could still create a gathering for the fans but on a much smaller scale, once again for the 7th year spending months of preparation, working literary hundreds of hours and personally financing the Knight Rider event, but again we were still unable to display our huge gallery of photo graphics and imagery used at out previous events for copyright infringement fears. But we still managed to provide what I consider our best VIP party ever! and our best ever Q&A with Rebecca Holden hosted by the superb Knight Rider Archive and held in our unique knight semi replica set.

So as you see, the phrase “Knightcon has lost its way” its not only far from the truth, but also rubs salt in the wound…

Other concerns raised where barrier issues, as stated in a previous post. Barriers were 100% planned for the entire KITT section, but we were vastly let down by the venue who did not allocate enough barriers on the day, but please rest assured this issue will be raised! but it still does not change the fact that cars appeared to have been damaged, and for this we are eternally sorry! but i must state for the record that if any concerns regarding barriers were brought to any of the event organisers attention I GUARANTEE we would have gone out of our way to find a solution!

It breaks our hearts that this has to end… but it has become all too apparent with many stating they will never attend with their cars again that we are unable to give you the event you want… Knightcon has never been a simple meet in a car park.. you do not need us to organise that for you… Knightcon is an experience!.. with Knight semi sets… Kitt bursting through a brick wall… Props… HUGE graphics!… the Knightcon exclusive video messages from cast and crew!… meeting fans from ALL over the world!… meeting Rebecca Holden… Michael Scheffe… Catherine Hickland… being the first event in the world to have Peter Parros attend,… And even the man himself David Hasselhoff! from the show we all love!

Next year we will have to re-brand as many have suggested here, so as not too confuse people thinking we are a Knight Rider event to simply Star Cars & Heroes. This again hurts more than you could ever know…

All there is left to do is thank each and everyone single one of you from the bottom of our hearts for your support over the last 7 years!!…its been one hell of a ride! …meeting our childhood heroes! and all the great times we have shared together!…

Rob & Steve

Nissan ‘Knight Rider’ Style Smartwatch

Nissan are looking to become the first manufacturer of a Knight Rider style smartwatch to connect the driver to the car. The device is set to monitor brainwaves, heart rate and deliver personal messages. Something we all would love to see!

Currently the device is being developed for the drivers of the Nissan Nismo cars. The smartwatch works by connecting the driver to the car and sharing real-time biometric data, it allows the driver to monitor the efficiency of their car, including average fuel consumption and access to the vehicles performance. As well as the aforementioned capabilities the smartwatch looks set to provide biometric data taken from the heart rate to inform the driver of how their body is reacting and can gather information regarding the drivers level of emotion and concentration.

In addition to this a smartphone will be able to connect to the smartwatch via Bluetooth to allow messages to be sent direct from Nissan to the user.

This is fantastic and exciting news in the development of vehicle technology and something I’m sure all Knight Rider fans would love to see!

The device will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show between the 10th and 22nd of September. Read the full article here, thanks to Mobile Entertainment:

Rebecca Holden: Dreams Come True

Knight Rider star Rebecca Holden’s ballad Dreams Come True is currently the #1 Most Requested & Most Popular Wedding Song in the World, with over 4,000 personal videos from people using Dreams Come True as their wedding, anniversary, renewal of vows, and inspirational theme.

Now, after hearing the ballad version of Dreams Come True (produced by multi-Grammy winners Ruby Perez & Joel Diamond and performed by Rebecca Holden & Abraham McDonald), UK re-mixers Club Junkies have come up with an outrageous Club Mix. Using the vocal stems, the Club Mix crosses to Pop, AC, R&B and Classical Crossover (being based upon the classical piece Pachelbel’s Canon).

Newcastle Knight on Sky News!

Home-made Knight Rider replicas seem to be getting a lot of attention from the media recently, with fans from Georgia and Detroit in the USA getting to show off their cars. Sky Television have filmed a short piece casting the spotlight on UK fan Scott Bainbridge and his fantastic K.I.T.T.

He tells them that he’s spent nine years and around £12K on the car, which features a replica Season Two dash and speaks to him with samples of William Daniels’ voice from several episodes.

Scott told Sky: “The idea has always been there because I have always loved Knight Rider, so I had to have the car. I get stopped everywhere, when I am putting petrol in or when I just nip to the shops. Unfortunately it doesn’t attract the type of attention I am after from the ladies.”

“My family and friends thought I was mad at first but I think they have come to realise my obsession with the show.”

Scott and his K.I.T.T. will both be attending KnightCon Star Cars & Heroes in Castleford, Yorkshire on September 6th and 7th.
