With lots of recent articles being released regarding the proposed new Knight Rider movie, the latest article from Moviehole suggests that David Hasselhoff may have more involvement in the proposed movie than in previous reboots. Whilst attending David’s talk at this summer’s London Film & Comic Con he discussed the 2008 reboot and his desire to be involved in the proposed new movie to make it more in keeping with the original series.

The Weinstein Company who currently hold the rights to the original series are looking to progress the project further. Hopefully the new movie will be respectful to fans of the original as well as bring in a new generation of fans!

For the trivia hounds out there, in his Knight Rider years David celebrated his birthday while filming the Pilot Episode in 1982, and Out of the Woods in 1985. There were mini-hiatuses from filming the series on July 17th of the two years in between, and in 1983 David spent his birthday on a promotional tour of South Africa before returning to film Goliath.

Knight Rider Guest Star Dennis Burkley Passes Away

Dennis Burkley as Tiny

Dennis Burkley as Tiny

Dennis Burkley, who played Tiny in the episode Short Notice, has died. He was 67. During a busy forty-year career he amassed more than 130 film and TV credits, and was frequently cast as truckers, bartenders, bikers and rednecks. He was perhaps best known for his role as the mute biker that befriends Eric Stoltz’s character in Mask (1985), and to modern audiences as the voice of Carl Moss, the principal of Tom Landry Middle School in Arlen, Texas, on 35 episodes of King of the Hill.

Burkley died in his sleep at his home in Sherman Oaks early on Sunday morning, his agent David Ankrum told The Hollywood Reporter. He had been battling health problems for some time, said his son, Shawn.

In his Knight Rider appearance, he was a threatening heavy that assisted Harold T. Turner (played by character actor William Smith). In his scenes he intimidated Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff), plays chicken with K.I.T.T. (and loses), and also shows his softer side babysitting Natalie Turner (played by Brittany Wilson).

Other television credits include guest-star stints on Kojak, Starsky and Hutch, The Rockford Files, B.J. and the Bear, The Fall Guy, The Dukes of Hazzard, NYPD Blue, JAG and My Name Is Earl.

In addition to his son, Mr. Burkley’s survivors also include his wife of 46 years, Laura, and their daughter Shannan.

London Film & Comic Con

David Hasselhoff at London Film & Comic Con

David Hasselhoff meeting fans at London Film & Comic Con

Friday the 5th to Sunday the 7th July saw this summer’s London Film and Comic Con event held at Earls Court, London. It was a fantastic event with lots to see from various memorabilia and collector’s items on sale to movie prop displays and numerous guest stars including David Hasselhoff himself.

David was one of the main guest stars at the event and was truly a great guest. He was available for signing autographs at various stages over the three days as well as photoshoot opportunities and even a guest talk on the Saturday evening which both myself and Paul attended.

Over the weekend there was a constant queue for autographs and David was on good form making time for everyone who attended and taking time to answer questions people may have. One of the Sunday photo shoots provided a unique opportunity, to have your photo taken with David and K.I.T.T. together. This was an excellent replica K.I.T.T. and not one of the original screen used cars.

The Saturday evening talk lasted approximately thirty minutes and included some of David’s memories of working on Knight Rider and his current work as well as a Q&A session at the end.

The event also hosted some great props on display from the Terminator franchise as well as an Ecto-1 replica at the entrance.

Well done to all involved in organising the event, it was a great event and a very memorable one for all Knight Rider fans!

According to the Ilford Recorder, he chatted with guests, posed for pictures, signed autographs and even watched clips of his shows Baywatch and Knight Rider played on screens.

Knight Rider!

Knight Rider!

July 8th, 1982: Filming began on the very first Knight Rider story, the feature-length Pilot Episode. Some twenty minutes of the show were already in the can, as select scenes that showed what the series would be about were already filmed as part of a presentation reel for NBC executives, who went on to greenlight the series.
