SYNOPSIS:
Michael suspects foul play when he discovers a friend's horse has apparently been shot and killed. His investigation leads him to a cover-up by Maxine's partner, a desperate man trying to recover his gambling debts before a racketeer catches up with him.

Michael states he originally met Maxine Fleming on the "Grimaldi case" the previous year -- an in-joke reference to producer Gino Grimaldi (just as the aforementioned horse 'Foster's Folly' is a reference to executive producer Robert Foster).
Michael and K.I.T.T. have a mission waiting in Seattle.
Don Gordon previously appeared in the first season episode THE FINAL VERDICT, while Dave Cass appeared in NOT A DROP TO DRINK. Rene Assa guest starred as the villainous Miller in DIAMONDS AREN'T A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND the previous season.
SCRIPT TO SCREEN:
In the original William Elliott script, Maxine's horse King Jack was named Knightrider. He's a three-year-old colt with a reddish blaze on his forehead.
The first draft features a young girl named Bobbi Gabriel, who tends to Knightrider/King Jack after he bolts away from Tommy Lee and Doc Thorpe. She would unwittingly return the horse to Doc Thorpe herself, and also lead Michael to the villains.
