TRIVIA:

This episode carries a dedication at its conclusion: "This Knight Rider is dedicated to the memory of Marcel Rafael Marcelino, who died while his father, Mario, was filming this episode. Mario played the role of Julio."

K.I.T.T. communicates with another talking computer during this episode: I.R.M.A. (Interstate Research and Medical Assistance -- Version 5.6). It has a female robotic voice, causing K.I.T.T. to wonder why they couldn't make 'her' voice a little more human; Michael states that she just wasn't K.I.T.T.'s type.

Co-writer Bruce Belland was co-founder of The Four Preps music act, which also featured a young Glen A. Larson.

Robyn Lively was nominated for a Young Artist Award (Best Young Actress - Guest in a Television Series) for her performance in this episode.

SCRIPT TO SCREEN:

In the script, K.I.T.T. interfaces with I.R.M.A. a second time for details of Julio's injury. Michael states that she's not very friendly, but K.I.T.T. tells him he's just spoiled.

A small scene in which Michael visits the local police for information on Julio's whereabouts never made it to the episode.

The script has K.I.T.T. perform a unique "double" Turbo Boost. While cornered by the Conquerors' van, they use the first to lift K.I.T.T. up onto his back wheels, and the second to clear the obstruction (essentially the purpose behind the Trajectory Guide feature). In the episode, one Turbo is enough.

Julio originally bolted from K.I.T.T. with no knowledge of Terri's kidnapping. A chase would have followed, but Julio escaped thanks to the electrical storm's interference with K.I.T.T.'s scanners.
