TRIVIA:

This episode pays tribute to the classic films Rebel Without a Cause and American Graffiti.

This was writer Richard Okie's first Knight Rider story. He went on to become the series' Story Editor, and to write such memorable episodes as A GOOD KNIGHT'S WORK, K.I.T.T. Vs K.A.R.R. and KNIGHTS OF THE FAST LANE.

This episode introduces K.I.T.T.'s Silent Mode feature, which allows him to drive virtually noiseless. It would be used frequently in subsequent episodes.

Mary Beth Evans also appears in the fourth season episode DEADLY KNIGHTSHADE.

SCRIPT TO SCREEN:

In a brief cut scene, Michael tells K.I.T.T. that he used to own a classic GTO after seeing one parked outside the Hurricane club. In the episode FORGET ME NOT we learn that Michael used to own a 1956 Chevy.

A scene in which Devon helps Marietta clean her burglarised store is also cut, and it is here in which he is surprised to learn of Michael's sympathy towards Ron. The episode omits this, cutting straight to the confrontation between Michael and Devon in the semi.

The scene where Chief Craig confronts Michael about his mysterious past was added as filler late in the production process.

Handsome Anson James is described as a combination of Dick Diondi, Cousin Brucie and Wolfman Jack. His radio station KCPY was originally KCLF.

According to the script, the burglars' code song was originally Maniac. The episode uses Crumblin' Down.
